Hello!  My name is Jennifer Kubasch, and I am currently serving the Lord in various missions in the Dominican Republic. My dad became a pastor when I was in 2nd grade, so I’ve been heavily involved in church all of my life. At 11 years old, I made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as my Savior and made a personal decision to follow Him.

My love for culture and missions grew after a mission trip to Mexico when I graduated high school. From that experience, I decided to major in Teaching English as a Second Language at Union University. I taught ESL for 8 years in Kentucky and went on 3 short term mission trips to the Dominican Republic during that time. After my 1st trip there in 2015, I began wrestling with the Lord on feeling led to surrender to full-time missions (read more about that in my 1st blog post!). However, in the summer of 2018 at 30 years old, and after many of my own personal hopes and dreams seemed to fade, I could no longer push aside that call. I surrendered to 1 year on the mission field, a call that I now feel strongly will be much longer.

Isn’t it amazing how well the Lord knows us?  He knew that my heart wasn’t ready to say “yes” to more than a year, so He gently moved me to something I could feel comfortable with, knowing all the while that he was calling me to more. I think so often we see God as this entity that asks SO much of us!  And, while He definitely pushes us to be the best version of ourselves, He still loves us enough to consider our hearts! At the same time, He ALWAYS equips us for whatever calling He gives.  He continues to equip me with each new journey He calls me to. He only asks that I say, "yes."

My heart began changing within just a few short months of living in the DR. It’s hard not to fall in love with life on a tropical island! The people, the language, the warm weather… I love it all! I am in constant amazement at how the Lord loves me and gives me these opportunities. I am moving into my 4th year on the island, and I couldn't be more thankful that I get to live this life!
